This game can wear out even the most energetic kids.

Materials

  • one or more balls
  • something to mark the playing area (e.g., with chalk)

Development

  • The players are inside the playing area.
  • A coach throws the ball from the sideline.
  • Each player’s goal is to throw the ball and hit one of the other players.
  • With the ball in hand, a player may take only 3 steps.
  • If a player is hit and the ball then falls to the ground, that player must move to the edge of the playing area. They must remember exactly who threw the ball that hit them. They can only return to the playing area if that person is hit and must move to the edge.
  • If the ball is thrown out of the playing area, the players at the edge must catch it and throw it back, trying to hit someone.
  • If a player manages to catch the ball thrown at them, they do not have to go to the edge.
  • If a player is hit but another player catches the ball before it touches the ground, the person who was hit may continue playing.
  • The player who remains in the playing area until the end wins.

Variation

  • You can also play with more balls to make the game more exciting.
