Camp Song / 4 Chords Song

Submitted by rebtschgi on

It's that simple to create a camp song that will stay in everyone's ears at least until after camp.

Texten

A good camp song needs a good, and especially funny text. So gather some ideas and take notes of what you've been up to at camp. Write everything down. And especially let the children sing along!

Chords and Rhythm

The "four chords" are best, which are 4 chords that are always repeated and a 4/4 time signature.

The chords are: G (G major), D (D major), e (E minor) and C (C major)

You can also change the order of the chords. It's best to play through the chords a few times and make up a simple melody to go with them. Or you can take the melody from a well known song (e.g. Lieb de Herr, Dip-Song...)

Poetry stanzas

Now you can put the ideas you have collected together into stanzas. Make up a chorus that everyone can sing along with and that is only 1-2 lines long. The more it has to do with the camp or the theme of the occasion, the better.

You can also perform the verses as a rap and then sing the chorus with the whole group.

Rehearse

After that, you need to practice the camp song well so that it will be an appealing show and everyone will have fun :-)

Material

It needs

  • guitar
  • more or less musical directors
  • good ideas
  • perhaps a few suggestions from the leaders, because the children can't imagine much at the beginning
