Building a presentation with Prezi

How to use Prezi

Strenght and weakness of Prezi

We all (probably) know Powerpoint to make a presentation. Prezi is a new kind of making a presentation and asks a different kind of thinking during making the presentation.

By builiding a Prezi-presentation you have to think through your entire presentation holistically before you begin to construct the presentation at all. This holistic view is the strenght but might also be the weakness of Prezi.
Because of this kind of view it is even more important to think about your underlying message, before building the presentation. What is the central or recurring theme of this presentation?  You are confronted with that question because your 'Home' screen or canvas needs to express that theme visually with a Big Picture right up front. Continuing your presentation you have to be aware that you must be carefull not to make your audience dizzy by tumbling to the different slides.

Another chance but also weakness of Prezi is that it is webbased. Everywhere you go you can have acces to your presentation... ...unless there is a (good) networkconnection.

You can use Prezi for free, but you have to be aware that this comes with limited options, always has the Prezi-Logo on your presentation and last but not least that all your Prezis are public.  If you want to keep your Prezis private and get more features, you have to pay montly.

Decisions you have to make before building

  • What do I need to cover in my talk?
  • How long do I have to cover it?
  • Who is my target audience?  What are their hot buttons – dreams, concerns, etc?

You MUST give these thought before I begin the process of constructing a Prezi.
